We, here at
Bruinsball.com, originally reported that Parker would choose UCLA over a week ago. Here is the
updated version of that report.
Well, our sources proved to be correct, and Parker committed to UCLA today at a press conference at his high school, Miller Grover in Atlanta, Georgia.
After a strong, final push by Georgia, trying to keep the local star home, the opportunity to be re-united with his former AAU Coach, Korey McCray, as well as to team up with his close friends, Shabazz Muhammad, Kyle Anderson, and Jordan Adams, was too great to pass up.
Parker will get immediate playing time his freshman year, but it is unlikely that he will start. Josh Smith's return, coupled with Howland's love for the Wear twins, signals that Parker will likely see lots of playing time off the bench, and will be a huge contributor to the team, but won't be a starter.
After about a year of hype about a possible "monster class" heading to UCLA, Ben Howland was able to pull it off, bringing in the best class of the Howland-era. Three McDonald's All-Americans and one Ballislife All-American round up this recruiting class, which includes two of the top five players in the country.
Congratulations, Bruin fans!
