The Bruins have just received a commitment from 5-star defensive tackle, Ellis McCarthy. McCarthy has been committed to Cal since the Army All-American game, but since his main recruited at Cal, Tosh Lupoi, bolted for Washington, many believed it was just a matter of time before McCarthy gave his pledge to Jim Mora.
However, most of the credit in this recruitment should be given to UCLA defensive backs coach, Demetrice Martin. Martin is a long time friend of Ellis' father, and the McCarthy family has great trust in Martin. Ellis' father is also known to be a long-time Bruin fan!
Quite simply, McCarthy is UCLA's biggest pledge in quite some time, and he should compete for LOTS of playing time as soon as he steps on campus. Bruins fans have been holding out hope for this one for quite some time. Go Bruins!
