  • Signing Day Proves to be Fruitful for Mora & Staff

Signing Day came and went for the Bruins, who added four prospects to their already impressive class earlier today.

To start the day off, 6'5" WR Javon Williams committed to the Bruins over Arkansas. Williams instantly becomes the tallest WR on the roster. He brings great athletic ability and can pluck the ball out of the air with his impressive wingspan. To get a guy UCLA started recruiting two weeks ago that had offers from the likes of Arkansas and Oklahoma St, it's quite impressive. Also to note is that Javon Williams caught passes from Brett Hundley in high school...

The saga of Jordan Payton finally ended today, and he signed with....UCLA. The Oaks Christian WR was initially committed to SC, then switched to Cal, then to Washington yesterday, before choosing the Bruins this morning at his school.

Payton, at 6'2 has decent speed and athleticism. He also has the ability to play safety if need be. Truthfully, he's been a bit complacent this past season (due to the competition he faced) which has caused his stock to drop a bit. But when he's on, he can be really good. The proverbial fire needs to be lit with Payton and if it is, it's a huge pickup for UCLA.

The Bruins got another smaller surprise today when an unheralded scat-back from Georgia, Ahmaad Harris, committed. At 5'8" 155, he has great quickness and change-of-direction skills. Harris' only offer came from UCLA, and he may have taken the place as the change-of-pace back in this class as Tairen Owens didn't sign. Owens looks to be exploring other options. Harris does look like an explosive kid on film, and his cousin is Michael Vick.

The last commit today came from Long Beach Poly's Randall Goforth. Goforth is a jack-of-all-trades athlete that competes at both cornerback and wide receiver. He has high upside and great quickness. He chose UCLA over UW and ASU (where he was previously committed to).

This ends what turned out to be a stellar class for UCLA. All in all they signed 25 players (not including Alexandru Ceachir- an early enrolee, and Trayvon Watson- who looks to be greyshirting). The class went national, and stretched out over 8 states.

The only other recruit still out there is Seth Jacobs, but he looks to have dropped the Bruins in favor of Oklahoma State, Colorado, or Arkansas.
