  • UCLA Still The Leader For Dominic Artis?

    by Brett Pierce

Tamera Davis, Dominic Artis' mother, said in an LA Times interview that Dominic "still loves UCLA and I would say really they're still his favorites [...] He just wanted to make sure he was making the right decision and take a step back for a minute."

This is amazing news for UCLA, as I think that Dominic is vital to the future success of the program. Besides Artis, there aren't many elite 2012 point guards left and none that are still considering UCLA. Futhermore, the 2013 point guard class out west is weak, with UCLA's top prospect being the No. 19 point guard in the nation according to Scout.com, Zach Lavine out of Washington.

I still believe that Dominic Artis loves UCLA and I was shocked when I got the call that he was going to decommit. When I talked to him about a week and a half ago he sounded as if he couldn't wait to get on campus.

Hopefully, it is just as Davis says, and Artis just feels like he rushed into things. We have to remember that these kids are only 17-18 years old, and sometimes they jump on an offer because they get excited and caught up in the moment. Hopefully Artis commits to UCLA, but in the end, we cannot blame a kid for wanting to make sure he is choosing the school that is best for him. It is better for him to entertain these thoughts now than to think about them when he is already signed. UCLA has had more than enough transfers recently.

If anything, this rocky start shows recruits that early play time is very viable. Both Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams should have roles on the team next

Really curious to know how UCLA's struggles has impacted recruiting... or if it had an impact at all. Can you guys sneak in a question or two to the recruits

Been trying to get a hold of him. Doubt it's something he wants to address even if he's thinking it.
