  • UCLA Lands Nation's Top Player, Shabazz Muhammad!!

    Brett Pierce

We have been calling Shabazz Muhammad a heavy UCLA lean for months, and minutes ago, Shabazz Muhammad finally committed to UCLA.

Here is my scouting report on Muhammad: Muhammad is ranked as either the number 1 or 2 basketball player in the 2012 class by every major scouting website. His accolades are numerous, but his most recent accomplishments are being named the McDonald's All-American Game MVP and being the NIKE Hoop Summit all-time scoring champion. Compared to Kobe Bryant and James Harden on NBADraft.net, the 6’6 lefty shooting guard/small forward is quick, athletic, and can dunk on anyone. He has also made great strides in improving his outside shooting ability and strength over the past year. What separates Muhammad from the rest of his peers, however, is his competitive nature and drive to succeed. Nobody in the 2012 class hates losing as much as Muhammad does.

    What does Muhammad's commitment mean?
With the commitment of Muhammad, UCLA now has 2 of the top 5 players in the 2012 class, having already secured a commitment from Muhammad's best friend, Kyle Anderson. UCLA is now a National Contender, and should be ranked in the pre-season Top 10. This will be UCLA's best team since Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook played together in Pauley Pavilion. Expectations will be extremely high, and anything less than a deep tournament run will be a disappointment. There are some folks who expect nothing less than a UCLA National Championship this year.
