  • Recap of UCLA Hoops Prospects in Saturday All-Star Games

    Brett Pierce

On Saturday night, The Nike Hoop Summit and the Ballislife All-American Game took place. UCLA commit, Kyle Anderson, and recruits Shabazz Muhammad and Tony Parker played in the Nike Hoop Summit, while Jordan Adams played in the Ballislife All-American Game. Here is a recap of how they each did.

    Nike Hoops Summit

Kyle Anderson- Anderson started off slowly, but picked up his game as the it went on. He showed off his unique skill-set by setting up teammates and picking up crafty fouls. He even hit the lay-up to put Team USA in the lead in the 4th quarter. However, he missed 2 free throws that were needed to keep Team USA in the game, before they lost 84-75. Anderson didn't have a great game, but this type of All-Star game does not fit his skill-set. He does better running a set offense, not playing unorganized, 1-on-1 basketball. His final stat line: 12 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 turnovers, and 3 steals.

Shabazz Muhammad- Muhammad broke the Hoop Summit scoring record, with 35 points (to go along with 9 rebounds). However, he did this on 12-27 shooting. The numbers are not as selfish as they sound though, because he was the only one hitting shots for a large portion of the game. Muhammad was aggressive, as always, and put the team on his back during many Team USA lulls. Without Muhammad, Team USA would have gotten destroyed.

Tony Parker- Parker was basically a non-factor. In the little playing time he got, he was not noticeable, and only took a couple of jump shots (missing them all). He was not nearly as aggressive in the paint as he needed to be, and did not play the style of game that suits him.

    Ballislife All-American Game

Jordan Adams- I did not watch this game, but his final line was 17 points, 7 boards, 6 assists and 3 steals.

Stay tuned this week for lots of hoops news, because both Shabazz Muhammad and Tony Parker will be announcing THIS WEDNESDAY! From what I am hearing right now, UCLA fans are going to have a very good week.
