Here is the link to the roster: Official UCLA Football Roster

    Roster changes:

Dalton Hilliard- moved from Safety to Running Back

Darius Bell- moved from Quarterback to Y

John Young- moved from Tight End to Offensive Lineman

Damien Thigpen- moved from F-Back to Wide Receiver

Jared Koster- moved from Linebacker to Defensive Back

Joseph Fauria- moved from Tight End to Y

Damien Holmes- moved from Defensive End to Linebacker

Keenan Graham- moved from Defensive End to Linebacker

Anthony Barr- moved from F-Back to Linebacker

David Allen- moved from Linebacker to Full Back

Brandon Willis- moved from Defensive Tackle to Defensive End

    Interesting notes:

Torian White, the Redshirt Freshman Offensive Lineman, is now up to 292 pounds. His previous knock was that he was too skinny, but that is adequate size for a collegiate Offensive Tackle.

Owamagbe Odighizuwa is now 278 pounds, considerably larger than his weight last year.

Any information regarding the thinking behind these roster changes?

Dalton Hilliard is listed as a RB, not a WR as indicated in the post.

According to the 2012 roster, Dalton Hilliard is listed as a RB, not a WR.

They changed some information on the roster a few days later. Hilliard was previously listed as a WR. They made him a RB because he played RB in high school, but I don't know why they had earlier switched him to a WR. As for all of the changes, some older positions do not exist anymore (such as tight end), and some players were playing out of position, in the minds of the coaching staff (Anthony Barr and others). I will change Hilliard right now though.

I'm sure you'll have your hands full with more roster changes after the incoming class is officially enrolled. Thanks for the early insight. I am going to surmise the coaches have been watching a lot of film to make some of these changes. Others might be just common sense; like moving a 200lb LB to the Secondary.
