Here is a Bruinsball.com Exclusive Interview with UCLA four-star football commit, Marcus Rios. Rios is rated as the number 21 cornerback nationally, according to Rivals.com.

How glad are you to get this whole process over with and sign with UCLA on Wednesday?
Marcus Rios: I’m really excited. I’m just glad to see that all my hard work has paid off. I know I’ll be successful and it’s where my family feels most comfortable about. Everything is just great.

So you just found out you are an early entrant to UCLA, right?
Marcus Rios: Yes, I’ll be leaving in March.

So, have the coaches told you anything about competing for early playing time or fighting for a starting job as a freshman?
Marcus Rios: Yes, they have. They told me that I’ll have the opportunity to go in and compete and win a position. I’ll be ready. I’m working hard.

Can you talk about the culture shift that is taking place now at UCLA? Do you sense a new toughness?
Marcus Rios: I do sense it. I sense it a lot. It really made it a whole lot better for me once I found out he was coming. The staff he has put together, I mean they’re all really good coaches. They’ve been there, done that, and they know what it takes. And just the atmosphere. It’s a great fit. I know they’re going to do a lot of great things with their new offense and defense. They were lacking in these last couple of years, so they will allow us to use all our playmakers that we have on the team. I think we’ll definitely be successful this next season.

You’ve been texting a lot of different recruits trying to get them to come to UCLA. Who are you going after heading into signing day?
Marcus Rios: I just got done talking to Simon Goines and he committed. I was talking to him for a while. Other than that, I mean, I’ve been trying to talk to Shaq [Thompson] and Aziz [Shittu] and all them. I’m pretty sure everyone has their minds made up of where they want to go, so we’ll have to see on Signing Day.

I’m sure you know some things that the general public doesn’t, and I’m not going to ask you to disclose anything, but should Bruins fans expect big things on Signing Day?
Marcus Rios: Oh yes, definitely, definitely. Like I said, I talked to a lot of players and we should definitely expect a lot of things… real big surprises.

What are you most excited for at UCLA besides football?
Marcus Rios: I’m just excited about [UCLA] school-wise, and the atmosphere, and just the LA area because I know there is a lot of stuff to do. School and classes ought to be fun as well. I just can’t wait to get down there and see it again.
